Saturday, June 8, 2013 is National Get Outdoors Day, and you can visit the Angeles National Forest without an Adventure Pass. National Get Outdoors Day (or GO Day) was created in 2008 to encourage people to get outdoors, get active and explore. There are 138 official GO Day events around the country, many of them focused on getting your family excited about living a healthy, active lifestyle.
Here in SoCal, Angeles National Forest is waiving the fee for parking. Here are a few trails where you can skip the Adventure Pass for the day:
- Mt. Wilson via Chantry Flats – This is a long, strenuous loop. If you want something easier, you can do an out-and-back to Sturtevant Falls.
- San Gabriel Peak, Mt. Disappointment, Mt. Deception, Mt. Markham and Mt. Lowe – You might not want to bag five peaks in one day. Do one. Or do them all.
- Mt. San Antonio – You might recognize it by it’s popular name — Mt. Baldy.
Of course, you don’t have to hike in Angeles National Forest. Find a trail that works for you!
Get outside… and get on the trail!
